Many older campers chose to participate in the Counselor-In-Training Program when they turn 14 years old. Counselors-In-Training are responsible for helping counselors in all areas of camp operation. Duties include camp set-up and breakdown, supervising groups, giving sailing rides, being an observer in the wakeboarding and waterskiing camps, and much more! Many youth satisify community service requirements while being a CIT.

  COUNSELOR-IN-TRAINING PROGRAM
This program, for campers 14 or older, serves as a first work experience for many youth participants. CIT’s will assist counselors in all aspects of camp operations and will learn about
responsibility, leadership, and the satisfaction that accompanies a job well done. CIT's are an integral part of the success of our camp and have a great time while doing it too! Being a CIT is an excellent way to spend the summer and fulfill community service hours.

REQUIREMENTS: To be a Counselor-In-Training you must:

  • Be 14 as of June 1st, 2007
  • Be willing to work
  • Be available for at least two weeks during the summer
  • You must have attended our camp in the past
  • Attend an orientation and training session in spring
  • Know how to sail or be willing to learn (included in fees).

Questions?

The orientations are meant to be a forum to answer your questions. Both parents and participants are invited to attend. If you have any questions that can't wait for the orientation, you can contact the Head CIT by email or by calling (858) 488-1000 x242. In the spring the messages will be check bi-weekly so it may take up to two weeks to get a response. Urgent questions can be directed to the Camp Director at (858) 539-2003.

FEES:

CIT's earn their right to be here with their service
but there is a one-time fee of $150 for processing
and training. You will be scheduled for at least two
weeks or more (dependent upon performance) if you
are a motivated CIT!
